The Fort Fisher Hermit: The Life and Death of Robert E. Harrill

Robert E. Harrill, The Fort Fisher Hermit, spent 17 years under the stars and scrub oaks of Fort Fisher, North Carolina. Unfortuately Robert's new life wasn’t as idyllic as he made it out to be, and his untimely death is marked by mystery and controversy. Narrated by Barry Corbin, this film examines the reasons that led a man to become a hermit, his growing popularity and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.

No More Joy - The Rise and Fall of New Orleans' Movie Theatres

Over the last several years New Orleans has seen many of its movie theatres close, the Joy Theatre on Canal Street is the latest. Learn how social changes, technology, and the distribution of films contributed to the rise and fall of New Orleans' movie theatres. Journey from the beginning of the Twentieth Century to the present and reminisce over the places New Orleanians went to the movies. No More Joy is a documentary that was finished in 2004 and combines hundreds of original photographs with interviews in a compelling story of how the film exhibition industry continues to go through changes in the New Orleans area. No doubt the results of hurricane Katrina will force more independently-owned theatres to close their doors. This movie may catalog the final curtain call of the neighborhood theatre in the greater New Orleans area. Visit the movie website at www.nomorejoy.com

  The End of New Music.

"Hardly a week goes by without some new declaration of classical music's declining relevance in contemporary society. Mr. Taylor's film... might seem to be the latest verse of an extended eulogy." -Steve Smith, New York Times. This verite documentary follows three young composers (Judd Greenstein, David T Little, and Missy Mazzoli) and two music ensembles (NEWSPEAK and NOW Ensemble) as they set out to redefine what "new music" can be. The film's intimate and kinetic style captures the unique moment in these artists' lives when they are figuring out not only what they want their music to be, but also how and where they want to present it. By taking their performances out of traditional concert halls and into the clubs and bars of New York, they are making a bold bid to find new audiences and success on their own terms. In many ways, this documentary is the familiar story of the American band trying to 'make it', but it takes place against a musical backdrop unlike anything you've ever heard before.
